Welcome!
Hello, my name is Conchetta Lorentz. I created this blog to help explain myself and who I am. I believe that I am a hard-working determined person who has many goals. My biggest goal is to make a difference in the lives of children. In my blog I talk about my past experiences. I discuss my work experience, academic experiences, and some volunteer experience. I hope this blog helps you to learn more about the type of person I am and what I want in my life. It is going to take alot to accomplish my goals, but this is only the beggining. Enjoy!
Letter of Intent
To Whom It May Concern,
First, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read through my blog. I am writing this letter to help show my interest in obtaining an internship in the child care area. I hope to obtain an internship working with children, where I can express the skills I have developed from working with children in my past. Considering elementary education is my major, I feel acquiring an intership working with children is the best step for me in my life as of now.
As I stated earlier, working with children is my passion. It is something I love and have been doing for some time now. Throughout my high school career there have been many times where I was able to work with children. Later on in the blog I talk about one experience I had in high school when I was able to work with the head start children in my high school.
I hope you read more of my blog to help learn more about me. I feel I can bring forth a calm, positive, caring attitude when it comes to working with children. I attached a link to my Resume for you to view.
Thank You,
Conchetta Lorentz

Biography
I was born on September 10, 1991 in Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Before settling in South Amboy my family lived in Iselin, Howell, and Colonia, but those were all before I started school. South Amboy is a small, quiet town, less than one square mile, along the coast of New Jersey.
I attended elementary school at South Amboy Elementary and High School at South Amboy Middle/High School. Throughout school I was with the same people, from age four to eighteen when we graduated. My school was extremely small the high school, grades 7-12, consisted of about 500 students. I graduated high school with a G.P.A of 3.7. All throughout high school I was able to maintain a job at a local Dunkin Donuts. This helped me to learn how to manage both school work and having a job.
After high school I wanted to become a special education teacher for younger children. I plan to graduate from Rider University in May of 2013 with my degree in education, so I can continue on with accomplishing the goals I have set forth for myself.
Many people regret growing up in South Amboy because it is such a small town. They say they feel they do not get the same experiences as people who go to a larger school. But me, I am glad I grew up where I did. I feel as though it helped shape me into the person I am today. If I went to a different school I may not have the same goals I have today.

Academic Background
In high school I was involved in numerous different activities. I was accepted into the National Honor Society when I was a sophomore and I was able to withhold this all throughout high school. In order to be accepted you had to show strong academic drive, leadership skills, and community service activities. In my time on the National Honor Society I participated in many different activities. One of my favorite activities was the Christmas party we planned for the head start children. We raised money to buy them all presents and did arts and crafts projects with them. We even got a student to dress up as Santa Clause for the children to meet.
During the semester I had a class called speech and communications. One of the speeches we had to create was a passion speech. For my passion I chose teaching children. Below is the power point presentation from my speech for you to see.
One last assignment I would like to share is a paper I wrote in my college reading class. We had to make a self-portfolio to help describe ourselves in a better way.

Work Experience
I’ve also had some good work experience in my past as well. When I was only a freshman in high school I received a job in my town. It wasn’t anything major, just a simple job at Dunkin Donuts/ Baskin Robbins. I didn’t expect to be at this job as long as I was. But after only a year, I began shift leader training and soon became a shift leader. It now became my responsibility to be sure the work was properly being accomplished each shift.
Around the middle of my third year I transferred to a different Dunkin Donuts. This one had something I wasn’t familiar with; a drive thru. I quickly learned how to handle drive thru. I was still able to uphold my shift leader standing at this store as well. So now my current job is at the Dunkin Donuts in West Long Branch. Working at these two places helped me to acquire exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Volunteer
Throughout high school I participated in many different volunteer experiences. In my school it was required to complete 120 hours of community service in order to graduate. I feel that this requirement helped me to become a better person because I was giving my time to others willingly.
One community service activity I was very passionate about was the March of Dimes. It was the community service activity that made me enjoy the fact that it was a requirement. March of Dimes is a fundraiser to help raise money to save premature babies. I began this when I was in the seventh grade and continued all the way thorough until twelfth grade. This is something I am going to stop just because I graduated, I am going to go back and participate with my school in the future as well.
My school is one of the smallest schools in Middlesex County. This doesn't stop us though. For the past eight years we have been the leading school in the amount of money raised. Because of this fact our school leads the walk every year. We are recognized by the March of Dimes Corporation and the ambassador child comes to our school every year to tell us their story.
